The Fraser's and war!

In ABOSAA, the revolutionary war is front and center. In this time period and prior, war was everywhere, France, England and Spain were fighting everyone for European domination and who could get the biggest slice of the pie, war was just a way of life, men were known by their commitment to war(or not!). War is in just about every historical fiction book with battles and personal stories intertwined and is romanticised as well. So I guess what I'm trying to say is without war, where would we get our identity, our romance, our history? If there is such a thing as a parallel universe without war, what would they write about?!
